The first contact is usually through an addiction and drug counseling center or a specialist outpatient clinic for addicts.
There are in every city or larger community. Caritas alone offers more than 300 such services nationwide (use the “Local help” address search box on this page).
The disease is diagnosed there on a case-by-case basis and the need for help can be coordinated together. The Caritas advisors do not present ready-made solutions, but offer a joint search for perspectives. For free. Family and friends who are worried about someone also receive advice and support. For all questions about dealing with addiction and dependency, alcohol and drugs, gambling or eating disorders.
