Twenty-seven years after the war in Bosnia

Twenty-seven years after the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, most of the houses in Ostra Luka, Tolisa and Donja Mahala are completely destroyed. To enable people to return, we already have the plans for it.

The country is in the deepest crisis in decades. Bosnia was and is a very poor country even before the war. 120 billion euros are needed for reconstruction aid in order to deal with some of the consequences of the war catastrophe.

Project description

Planning occasion

The planning area has long been designed as a residential area in regional and functional planning and is therefore an important building block for the future housing supply in the Posavina region. With this urban project we want to create an attractive new living space for many homeless people.

Planning area

The planning area is located in Ostro Luka, Tolisa and Donja Mahala. The total area of the planning area is approx. 17.4 ha.

Planning goals

With the family housing development plan, we are working on creating a structured and socially balanced settlement structure with a variety of building structures and thus enabling different types of housing. When it comes to the share of single-family houses in semi-detached and terraced houses, the focus is on multi-storey buildings.
In the area of social infrastructure, a day-care center and a fire station are planned across the board.
The development of the new development area takes place exclusively on the new local road. The new bus station for the regional bus line is also available to these residents.

Planning process

The beginnings of development plan number 712 began in autumn 2022.
During the “working session” alternative urban projects were developed in intensive work and discussion between the city and various architects and engineers.
The urban planning project is based on the existing framework conditions while maintaining the defined basic structures.
The urban planning concept will be completed as plan 712 at the end of summer 2022 as part of a public participation.
